FEC announces Consort Place, London: A new mixed-use development which sets new standards in contemporary community living

Construction commences this month on Consort Place, a dynamic new destination, in one of London’s most distinctive and progressive areas, between Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs, with completion due in Q4 2023. This circa 80,000 sqm project, which has a GDV of £470 million, comprises 495 new contemporary apartments, a 231-room four-star hotel and health centre, and the reinstatement of the historic North Pole public house.

The central vision for Consort Place is to create an unrivalled lifestyle hub for the local community. Reaching for new heights, the development will be spread across two tower buildings of 65 and 35 storeys. Specifically, the east tower will feature the development’s centre-piece: including premium apartments, the design-led four-star hotel and a modern health centre, while the west tower will be home to 125 affordable apartments.

Commenting as construction commences, Consort Place Project Director for FEC, Bruno Almeida Santos, remarks: “We are delighted to introduce Consort Place, and are confident that it will add a distinctive lifestyle feature to the Canary Wharf Ward. The area is known as one of London’s major financial districts and, as a developer, FEC saw scope to add to the local lifestyle by incorporating a range of on-site amenities for residents, visitors and local people. We believe that a responsible development such as this should put community at its heart to help it grow and thrive.”

Kevin Keegan, Director at JRL Group comments: “JRL is delighted to have been appointed construction partner for the piling and basement works. It’s particularly exciting to be – quite literally – breaking new ground with FEC to bring to life a development which will invigorate the area, whilst protecting the legacy and integrity of its East End community-focussed roots.”

Both the residential properties and the hotel at Consort Place are designed by UK based architects, Pilbrow and Partners.  Interiors will be completed by Hirsch Bedner Associates, the well known international interior design company. The four-star hotel will be managed by Dorsett, one of the world’s most prestigious hotel groups and compliments the existing  hotel portfolio in London, Dorsett Shepherds Bush and Dorsett City in Aldgate. Renowned for its quality and customer service Dorsett has an international footprint in 13 major cities across the world with a total of 24 properties.

Consort Place has convenient transport links with Canary Wharf tube station served by the Jubilee Line in zone 2, and the DLR services on its doorstep, whilst London City Airport is less than five miles away by car. Further still, there is the Thames Clipper river bus service, which departs every 20 minutes, visiting over 39 piers, and there is also the anticipated arrival of Crossrail. The forthcoming Elizabeth Line will allow commuters to reach Liverpool Street within seven minutes, Farringdon within nine minutes and Heathrow Terminal 1, 2 and 3 within 39 minutes. This new tube line will provide fast access to Bond Street’s luxury boutiques, the shopper’s paradise that is Westfield Stratford, and of course, some of Europe’s largest corporate head quarters in Liverpool Street.
