FEC Tops Out One Of The Tallest Fully Affordable Residential Apartment Towers In Sought-After Canary Wharf Location

Globally renowned property developer, Far East Consortium (FEC), in partnership with Clarion Housing Group, is pleased to celebrate the topping out of Alta at Consort Place, Canary Wharf.

Standing 34 storeys high, Alta at Consort Place is the affordable housing tower within the development and will nestle alongside Aspen, the striking 65-storey residential-led mixed-use tower in Canary Wharf. The topping out ceremony, on Wednesday the 27th of July 2022, took place on the Alta rooftop, marking a construction milestone and pivotal step forward in FEC’s plan. As well as delivering beautiful homes, the Consort Place development will become a new destination in its own right that forms the cornerstone of a vibrant cosmopolitan pocket neighbourhood in the capital.

Present from FEC were Winnie Chiu, Executive Director, and John Connolly, Head of UK Development joined by Andrew McGarvie, Land Director from Clarion Housing Group and John Reddington Founder of JRL Group.

John Connolly, Head of UK Development at Far East Consortium comments: “The topping out of Alta at Consort Place is an important construction milestone that we are delighted to have reached. It’s a testament to the FEC and Clarion Housing Group teams working together alongside all of our other partners to turn Consort Place into a truly vibrant and inclusive place to live. The development is where home meets lifestyle, a destination within a connected community that offers a neighbourhood feel right in the heart of the capital. The additional mix of affordable housing made available to the Tower Hamlets community with the apartments at Alta will open up the area to become richer and more diverse.”

Alta at Consort Place will deliver 139 new homes of the Consort Place development’s total 634, and is set to handover and complete in Summer 2023. The tower will include 53 one-bedroom, 37 two-bedroom, 33 three-bedroom and 16 four-bedroom apartments. FEC is passionate about bringing affordable housing to a prime London location such as Canary Wharf to benefit the local community. By providing local housing for local people, FEC is ensuring future housing for generations to come.

Richard Cook, Group Development Director at Clarion Housing Group, said: “We are delighted to reach this significant milestone on the Alta project. Working with our partner FEC, we are immensely proud to be delivering a range of high quality affordable housing options to meet the needs of Tower Hamlets residents. Once complete, Alta will be a shining example of much-needed contemporary affordable living in the capital.”

Alta at Consort Place boasts excellent transport routes including the recently opened Elizabeth Line (Crossrail) Station, putting it within easy reach of many London landmarks. Future residents will benefit from easy links to central London, with travel to Liverpool Street Station taking just seven minutes and a journey to Heathrow Airport, 40 minutes. The Thames Clipper riverboat service is also a novel way to commute from Canary Wharf, departing every 20 minutes and visiting over 39 piers along the River Thames.
