FEC is pleased to announce the appointment of General Projects as the new operator for Hornsey Town Hall.
This appointment marks a significant milestone in the continued regeneration of the Grade II* listed building, reinforcing FEC’s long-standing commitment to securing the future of Hornsey Town Hall as a vibrant cultural, creative and civic asset for the community.
The Town Hall will offer a range of cultural, workspace, creative and community spaces including flexible studios, offices, exhibition and performance areas, co-working and rooms for public hire and local events. It will also feature a new restaurant and café as well as benefit from integration with the adjacent Dao by Dorsett aparthotel, supporting visiting performers, practitioners and larger-scale programming.
Since 2017, FEC has been leading the restoration of Hornsey Town Hall, preserving its historic character while laying the foundation for its return as a centre for arts, creativity and community life. The addition of General Projects — renowned for its work reviving landmark buildings such as Walworth Town Hall, Royal Albert Dock and Twickenham Film Studios — represents a major step in delivering this vision.
General Projects will oversee the operation and activation of the Town Hall, which is set to launch in autumn. In the lead-up, a programme of community events will begin this summer, alongside an ongoing consultation process to ensure local groups help shape how the space is used. Placemaking specialists AND London have also been appointed to support event curation and delivery, public engagement and to support the wider programming.
This latest appointment will help bring forward a new chapter for the Town Hall and further enhance the Borough’s cultural offering. FEC will continue to work closely with General Projects and AND London to help realise the full potential of the site in the lead-up to Haringey’s designation as London Borough of Culture in 2027.
Hornsey Town Hall’s wider regeneration includes 146 residential apartments, a 68-room Dao by Dorsett aparthotel, and improved public realm for local events and recreation. The launch of the Arts Centre will complete the transformation, providing inclusive cultural spaces for residents, artists and organisations throughout the Borough.
Nick Poon, Head of Projects at FEC UK, said: “Hornsey Town Hall is one of North London’s most iconic heritage buildings, and we are proud to be delivering its next chapter. The appointment of General Projects marks a major step forward in our vision to bring the building back into public use as a vibrant arts centre and community space.
“We’re committed to ensuring the Town Hall is not only restored, but reimagined as a place that reflects and serves the diverse creative spirit of Crouch End and the wider Borough. With General Projects and AND London bringing their expertise to the project, we are confident the Town Hall will be a cultural anchor for years to come.”
Jacob Loftus, CEO of General Projects, said: “As a team, we’re thrilled to partner with FEC on the next evolution of Hornsey Town Hall, and are deeply committed to ensuring the building is protected and celebrated for future generations. Together with FEC, Dorsett and AND London, we hope to create a new creative and cultural hub that can become a new focal point for Crouch End.”
Andrew Sissons, Managing Director of AND London, said: “We are delighted to have been commissioned for the launch of Hornsey Town Hall. This is an important project that will have a major impact on the cultural, community and workspace landscape in Haringey and for London, bringing this amazing building back into use.
“We’re excited to work collaboratively to help shape a venue that’s relevant to local groups and also speaks to London’s wider creative landscape.”
