The halls modernist, bespoke architecture was pioneering at its time. The town hall was his first major commission in Britain and one of the first large modernist designs constructed in the country, showing influences of Dutch and Swedish architecture of the period.  Internally he featured Australian Walnut woodwork and Indian Laurel timber, Ashburton Marble and Perrycot Limestone, the design was well received, and Uren was awarded the RIBA London Architecture Medal for 1935.

John Connolly, Head of UK Development at Far East Consortium, commented:“This represents an exciting opportunity to live in a building stepped in history, which has been captured in film forever. Despite its new incarnation we are committed to honour this iconic building’sdistinguished legacy, we are creating homes here that blend Hornsey Town Hall’s history with modern living and excellent amenities.”
